Celebrity Quarantine Backlash

Every citizen across the United States has in someway or another been affected by the rapid spread of the Covid-19 virus which has successfully halted the day to day lives of many individuals. As many families shelter in place with the hopes that if they remain inside they will be protect themselves and other who may be more vulnerable to the virus. Every level of society has been affected by this fast pace change, even celebrities have taken to social media to express their opinions on what they are doing in quarantine to keep themselves occupied. This idea of celebrities sharing what they are doing within their own homes has sparked a somewhat large controversy on social media with many users saying that they really do not care what celebrities are doing in their mansions when such a large threat is affecting the globe. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian faced a good amount of criticism due to the fact that she was one of the prominent celebrities using television airtime to tell people what she has been up too. According to a quote on MTV.com “lol go in your huge yard and let them swim, jump, ride bikes, slip and slide, jumping house....I mean....” one person wrote, as another hit at celebs complaining about boredom in their mega-mansions.”. Many found these tone-deaf statements made by celebrities insulting as they have just about everything they want available to them while many families across the globe are struggling to find basic goods at the supermarket due to the straining affects the coronavirus has had on the global economy.
