Chris Matthews: Retires from MSNBC

As prominent media figures constantly have the spot light upon them with countless of viewers looking towards them to provide their own opinions and news in general, we continue to see prominent host state an opinion which does not sit well with the audience. In many cases these events are warranted with the host stating an opinion which could be racist or sexist towards a certain demographic and the appropriate backlash from the viewers usually follows with demands for the host to be fired and removed from his/hers position. The first week of March we saw the latest instance of controversy over a host transpire as one of the most popular host from MSNBC, Chris Matthews retired from his position after we saw the resurfacing of several accusations of sexual misconduct pointing towards to behavior of Chris Matthews. The most prominent accusation was from a GQ reporter named Laura Bassett who claimed that Matthews made sexual comments towards her in a 2016 interview. According to Brian Stelter from CNN, “ One of the people said that Matthews had been in conversation with MSNBC executives about his retirement date for a period of months. But the talks “accelerated”, this person said, after the recent controversies.”, with media organizations such as MSNBC wanting to stay in good faith with their audience and not loose any over any type of controversy within their company, they acted quickly to remove the problem from their building and essentially terminated Chris Matthews over his comments and actions towards others.
